Welcome to the website of the Lexden History Group.
In the nineteenth century Lexden was a small village on the outskirts of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town. Now it is a seamless part of the town.
The Lexden History Group started in 2006 after informal discussions amongst a few residents interested in local, family and house history.
We aim to arrange an interesting programme of year round talks and summer walks and encourage a cross-flow of information to help members in their own researches. We also plan to have a regular Group Project, looking at one particular aspect of Lexden’s past. Our next project is under consideration and should be finalised shortly.
Membership of the group is not restricted to Lexden residents; anyone who has links with or who is interested in the area is warmly welcomed.
Lexden History Group is a member of the British Association for Local History. For further information email: firstname.lastname@example.org
